Bathtub replacement swaps a failing tub for a new one in the same position. It is the right answer when the tub itself is the problem, a cracked acrylic unit, a chipped and re-glazed cast iron tub that has stopped holding a finish, or one that has been quietly leaking at the drain. The reason we treat a leaking tub as more urgent than an ugly one is what sits under it. Once water has been getting past the drain flange for a while, the subfloor takes it, and a soft subfloor is a much larger repair than a tub. We check for that at assessment when it is reachable, and we always check once the old tub comes out. That inspection is genuinely the most valuable half hour in the project. The replacement itself is straightforward: old unit out, subfloor and framing checked and repaired if needed, new tub set and levelled properly so it does not flex underfoot, then the surround rebuilt. Because the plumbing is open, this is the sensible moment to update the valve, and it costs very little relative to doing it separately later. If the tub is sound and the complaint is really about how the bathroom looks, we will tell you that a surround and fixture update may get you there for less.
Sequence is removal, subfloor inspection, any repair, new tub set and levelled, valve and supply work, then surround and finish. The subfloor step is the one that can change the scope, and if we find damage you get a written price for the repair before we go further. Where the existing tub is cast iron, removal is heavier work than people expect and we plan the route out of the house in advance rather than discovering the problem mid-job.

Reveals subfloor condition, which is why a leaking tub is worth acting on.
Seated properly so the tub does not flex and crack the surround later.
Rebuilds the wall and updates the valve while the plumbing is accessible.
Proudly serving Yuba City, Marysville, Live Oak, Wheatland, Plumas Lake and Gridley for years.
Ten services, grouped the way the work actually gets bid. Bathroom projects run from a tile replacement to a walk-in shower or a tub conversion. Kitchen projects run from countertops and cabinet refacing through a full remodel. ADU conversions sit between the two, because an added unit needs both a kitchen and a bath.

The permit path changes between these towns and it changes the schedule. Marysville and Live Oak run their own counters. Wheatland and Plumas Lake both go through Yuba County. Gridley splits it, with zoning at the city and building inspection at Butte County. We track which counter a job belongs to before demo.
Frequently Asked Questions
Kitchen and Bathroom Remodeling can be complex, and we’re here to provide answers to common questions. Here are some frequently asked questions from our clients.
There is no single price for a Yuba City bathroom remodel. Cost follows whether the toilet, tub and vanity stay where they are, whether the supply and waste lines behind the wall get replaced, and what the permit scope turns out to be once plans are reviewed. A tile and fixture refresh in an existing footprint and a remodel that relocates the drain are not comparable jobs. We price after a walkthrough, not before one.
Most bathroom remodels do, and the answer depends on the scope rather than the room. Work inside the city limits goes through the City of Yuba City Development Services Department, and the city runs a Permit Planner tool that estimates requirements and fees before you apply. Plumbing relocations, electrical changes and anything structural will pull a permit and an inspection sequence. We file the application and schedule the inspections as part of the job.
Schedule follows the permit and inspection sequence, whether fixtures move, and lead times on tile, glass and any custom vanity. A single-scope refresh that keeps every fixture in place moves quickly. A remodel that relocates the drain adds an open-floor inspection before anything gets closed up, and that inspection date is what sets the finish date.
Kitchen cost is driven by three decisions: whether the cabinets are refaced or replaced, whether the layout changes, and what the countertop material is. Refacing existing boxes and installing new countertops is a different order of project from moving the sink and the range. We walk the kitchen, confirm what the cabinet boxes are actually made of, and price the options separately so you can see what each decision costs.
A full remodel means demo to the studs and subfloor, then rebuilding: waterproofing, any plumbing and electrical changes, tile, the shower or tub, vanity, fixtures and finish work. It also includes the permit application and the inspections that come with opening a wall. What varies most is whether the supply and waste lines get replaced while they are exposed, which is usually the right call in older Yuba City homes and worth deciding before demo rather than during it.
Ask who is actually doing the work and where they are based, because a good share of the companies advertising in Yuba City run their crews out of the Sacramento area. Ask for a written scope after a site visit rather than a number over the phone. Ask which counter the permit goes to, since a contractor who cannot answer that for your address has not done the work here.
Refinishing addresses the surface and can be worthwhile on a structurally sound tub with a tired finish. It does nothing for a crack, a leak, or a tub that is the wrong size. If water has been getting past the drain, replacement is the only answer that lets anyone look at the subfloor.
We find it when the tub comes out, which is the point of doing that inspection carefully. Damaged subfloor gets cut back to sound material and replaced before the new tub is set. You get a written price for that repair before we proceed rather than an adjustment at the end.
The surround around the tub has to come off to get the unit out, so that wall is getting rebuilt regardless. Floor tile and the rest of the room can usually stay untouched. Matching existing tile on the surround is the practical constraint, and we discuss that before demo.
A straightforward swap with a sound subfloor is a short project. Finding damage underneath extends it, as does a cast iron removal, which is heavy and slow. We give you a timeline after assessment and update it in writing if the subfloor inspection changes anything.

We pride ourselves on delivering great results and experiences for each client. Hear directly from home and business owners who’ve trusted us with their Kitchen and Bathroom Remodeling needs.

Our house in Plumas Lake West was built in 2006 and the builder tub had never been touched. They converted it to a walk-in shower without moving the drain, which kept the cost where they said it would land. The whole thing was done in the window they gave us.

We have a pre-1960 Craftsman near Downtown Marysville and two other companies quoted it over the phone without looking. These guys came out, found the old waste line was the real problem, and put it in the written scope before we signed anything. The tile work in the finished bathroom is excellent.

They refaced our kitchen cabinets and replaced the countertops instead of talking us into a full remodel we did not need. Our place is off Washington Avenue in Gridley, so the permit side went through Butte County, and they handled all of that scheduling. Honest about what could wait.
